A session entitled Industry and Innovation during the first day of the DIPMF discussed the infrastructure, industry, innovation and technology along with their role in human advancement and how could it support wellbeing.
The session, which was moderated by the journalist Richard Dean, was attended by His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation; His Excellency Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister for Advanced Sciences and Technology Affairs, and Professor Carlo Ratti, Director of the "Sensible City" Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and co-founder of the Office Carlo Ratti Association.
His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul spoke about how innovation can be widely employed in Dubai and that innovation requires human efforts to provide research continuously. Belhoul also spoke about the importance of virtual assets and the workforce (human resources).
Hope Probe
His Excellency Omran Sharaf focused on always working to link foreign policies with regional and national priorities. He reviewed the UAE's experience in innovation through the Emirates Mars Exploration Project - the Hope Probe, which launched its mission on July 20, 2020.
Planning and risk study
Professor Carlo Ratti said, innovation in projects requires a clear methodology and focusing on identifying risks and determining success. He believes that the transition to the digital world and the use of artificial intelligence in our lives is a step that requires us to be careful not to be completely dependent on technology and leave the interaction.
