Paula Huerta

Paula Huerta, is a Licensed Architect from Spain specialized in Sustainable Design with a Masters Degree in Energy & Environmental Studies of the University of East London. She is also a LEED AP, BREEAM AP and GREEN MARK MANAGER. Paula has a strong background in conceptual design and extensive building experience. She has been working as a Sustainability Consultant Internationally for over 15 years, with her previous employers, American big design corporations like HOK or CH2MHILL, developing sustainable strategies and optimisation of building performance, leading Green Certifications for Advanced Technology Buildings such as Hospitals, Data Centers, airports, labs, etc. and establishing Sustainability Framework and tools development for architectural offices that have not experience in Low Carbon Design.

With her current company, Bambook Studio, based in Lombok Indonesia, she designs NET ZERO sustainable architecture in that region and Consults for larger projects that aim a low impact and low carbon footprint. She is also an Consultant for Circular Economy and a Board Member of the Environmental Alliance of the EU TECH Chamber with a clear mission to accelerate the UN SDGs.

She is a Leader of the Advanced Leadership Foundation from Washington DC providing conferences and talks about Circular Economy and the role of Sustainable Architecture in the path towards a Low Carbon Future in Universities, Summits, Conferences and private companies.

Paula is also actively involved in Circular Food Systems and Food Security Challenges, helping develope a legal framework for Organic Waste Conversion through Insect farming which will be crucial to achieve our goals. She has established in Indonesia several Organic Waste Conversion Facilities and has been actively involved in Palm Oil Plantations with the aim of achieving a Zero Waste Palm Oil Farming Production in Sumatra. Furthermore, she has founded also through the EU Tech Chamber a work group with leaders in the sector focused on accelerate the (EU) transition towards the Circular Economy by the use of insects.
