Étienne Thobois

Etienne is a former elite Badminton player, multiple French champion, that became an Olympian
when he took part in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

A graduate of ESCP Europe Business School in Paris, Etienne started his professional career as a
financial consultant with Arthur Andersen. He then held a number of management positions within
major sporting event organisations, such as Chief Financial Officer for the IAAF World Athletics
Championships in 2003 and CEO for the IRB Rugby World Cup in 2007.

Involved in the unsuccessful 2008 and 2012 Paris Olympic and Paralympic bids, Etienne finally
reached the graal as CEO of the victorious Paris 2024 Bidding Committee. He then was appointed
CEO of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee and delivered what is considered as one of the most
impactful and best organized Games ever, with fantastic images, daring innovations and record
numbers in many areas.
